In my observation of conversations dealing with the national cathedral project, I see a nation divided. In all the emerging issues and questions, I am particularly interested in the proper role of the state in such endeavours because how we resolve that question has serious implications for the future. In The Beginning How did we get here? Two statements from the President are important for my reflection. Tired of seeing his family’s money being donated to the local church, an exasperated Russian man set the place of worship a blaze in a feat of rage. On the morning of June 26, a fire broke out at the Church of St. Basil the Great in the village of Pargolovo, Russia’s Saint Petersburg district. The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has directed all its regional and sector commanders to institute stringent measures at all points of entry into the country and intensify patrols following another jailbreak in Nigeria. Nigeria, on the night of Wednesday, July 6, recorded a jail break at the Kuje Maximum Security Prison in Abuja, with official reports indicating at least 443 out of 879 inmates that escaped as a result of the jailbreak still on the run. The police in Weija have arrested two persons for possessing a freshly chopped-off male head. The suspects, who are currently in police custody, are Samuel Amemasi, 32, and Joseph Kwesi Mawuwone, 23.
