The Nigerian government has shut down one of its colleges in the capital, Abuja, over fears of attack by armed gangs. In a statement on Monday, the education ministry said the closure of the Federal Government College in the city’s suburb of Kwali became necessary over insecurity in nearby villages. It said a security breach in Sheda and Lambata villages threatened the school – after gunmen attacked Sheda on Sunday morning, kidnapping a resident. The national armwrestling team, the Golden Arms have returned to the country after winning a total of 45 medals to finish third at the 11th Africa Armwrestling Championships which ended last Friday (July 22, 2022) in Lagos. The Ghanaian team comprised 21 pullers (as armwrestling athletes are known) claimed 18 gold medals, 22 silver and five bronze medals to finish behind hosts Nigeria (27 gold medals) and Egypt (24 gold medals).Each of the pullers - 10 males and 11 females - won at least two medals each during the Championship. The Ghana Police Service is the most corrupt institution in the country, a research conducted by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) together with other stakeholders has stated. In total, 24 institutions were sampled for the said survey.  The research was christened; Corruption in Ghana, Peoples Experiences and View. The Ghana Health Service has asked all health workers, especially Regional and Teaching Hospitals to be on the lookout for the outbreak of the Marburg virus disease following two fatal cases in the Ashanti Region. Health workers are to “exercise a high index of suspicion for persons who may present with bleeding tendencies”, a statement issued by the GHS, signed by its Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye counseled.
