The fundraising efforts by the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana towards the construction of the cathedral have accrued GH¢31.75 million since 2018. Out of the amount, GH¢2.21 million was contributed by various church denominations. The board disclosed this when it launched another mass fundraising strategy, dubbed: ‘The National Cathedral Week’, at a press briefing in Accra yesterday. The National Cathedral Week is slated for July 4 to 10, 2022. A virologist at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR), Dr Michael Owusu, says the country is currently experiencing its fifth wave of the coronavirus. The National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Teaching Council (NTC) will, from September this year, roll out a programme that will allow national service persons posted to the classrooms without teaching certificates but who are willing to teach after their service to obtain professional teaching certificates.
