The National AIDS/STI Control Programme’s (NACP) Programme Manager, Dr Stephen Ayisi Addo, has urged employers to create a workplace HIV/TB policy to help manage and treat employees who have the disease.  A workplace policy is crucial, according to Dr Ayisi Addo, because HIV was a problem that affected people who came to work and could potentially be contracted at the workplace.  “The workplace is a setting for social interaction and physical contact, which makes it possible for infectious diseases like COVID-19 and HIV to spread. Since HIV can be spread through the workplace, it must also be controlled there,” he emphasized.  Dr Ayisi Addo said this at the weekly, “Your Health! Our Collective Responsibility! It's been a long while since I attended a worship event. However, today gave me one of the rare opportunities to join Minister Joe Mettle's Praise Reloaded at the Oil Dome at the Royal House Chapel here in Accra Earlier on, Minister Joe Mettle had joined us on Tuesday on LET US WORSHIP on PENT TV to give us a foretaste of what had been incubated for the release today. And I must confess that indeed Praise RELOADED was a comprehensive, holistic and mind-blowing package. ARRIVAL & PROTOCOLSMy wife and I arrived at the event quite early and from my observation, it was clear that the team Joe Mettle and the organizers started the event on time. From the look of things, one could tell that many people were highly enthusiastic of the programme and their sense of hunger drove i...

There is a culture of not reporting. If we report, then the police will investigate and the law will take its course. “The laws are there to fight for you if you report cases. Two state governments in Nigeria have reduced the working week to three days for state employees. The move is to help them cope with increased petrol costs, following the federal government announcement to scrap fuel subsidies. Nigeria is currently struggling to control the rising cost of transportation, which is affecting many citizens. The Edo and Kwara states governments’ announcement will fuel debate in the public and private sectors about measures to help workers cope with the rising costs. Public service staff across Nigeria work five days a week, but there’s still a lot of confusion about the fate of employees in the private sector where some are required to work for six days a week. There are also indications that other states may adopt the new model. Nigeria’s fe...

Floods hit eastern Accra after morning downpour

Ghana News, Headlines Today, Lifestyle & Social
Movement of motorists was heavily impeded Thursday morning at the Kpone Barrier portion of the main Tema-Aflao N1 road due to flood waters following an early morning downpour. Some motorists and their passengers complained of staying in gridlocks between two and five hours before making their way out of the situation. Joy News’ Carlos Calony who toured the affected areas said the floods blocked the road in front of the Bel-Acqua Bottling Company where commuters virtually sailed through running waters. The main Accra –Tema Motorway did not fare any better, as the rains forced a heavy gridlock that ensured vehicles moved at a snail’s pace.
