Online education receives boost as KNUST invests ¢17m on multimedia equipment

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has set up a $1.3 million e-learning centre with additional ¢17 million in multimedia teaching equipment. According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, the move forms part of efforts to improve online teaching and learning. “We will commission this facility to serve as the symbol of our continued commitment to digital education. The Director of the Nuclear Power Institute of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Professor Seth Kofi Debrah says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s approval for the inclusion of nuclear power into the country’s power generation mix indicates the country’s readiness to go nuclear.  The President, in a statement on Wednesday, approved the inclusion of nuclear technology into the country’s power generation mix. Chief Executive Officer of the Mckeown Group of Companies, Kwaku Adu Aninkorah, has lamented the lack of integrity among Ghanaian workers. He however says the low minimum wage paid workers partly accounts for theft at workplaces. There have been several conversations on the negative attitude of Ghanaian employees towards work. This has been frustrating to business owners. Many employees have been reported stealing, and contributing to the collapse of many businesses. Over 23,000 people test positive for HIV in six months

A total of 23,495 people in Ghana tested positive for HIV in the first half of this year (January to June). The figure is two percent of the 948,094 people who undertook HIV testing from January to June 2022, the Programme Manager of the National STIs and HIV/AIDS Control Programme, Dr. Stephen Ayisi Addo said in a report filed by state newspaper, graphic online. “The figure for this new infection is too high, so we need to intensify education to let people know that HIV is still real; …We have to let people know that they need to stick to the prevention strategies…,” he said. The former student of Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) seems very excited about her prospects as she shared her feeling in a Facebook post.  She formed part of the KETASCO team that made history when they qualified for the finals of the NSMQ that year during which she caught the public eye. Scotland first in world to make period products, including tampons and sanitary pads, free

Scotland has become the first country in the world to make period products free for all. There is now a legal duty on local authorities to provide free items such as tampons and sanitary pads to “anyone who needs them”. Products will be distributed through councils and education providers as the Period Products Act comes into force. MSPs unanimously approved the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Bill in November 2020.
