Gun battle between Police, armed robbers in broad daylight bank heist at Spintex [Video]

A dramatic daylight robbery unfolded at the Pan African Savings and Loans, located adjacent to FBN Bank on the Spintex road in Accra. According to reports, two young armed robbers trailed someone carrying a bag full of cash to the bank. The robbers, who had reportedly been hovering around the Top Pharmacy opposite the bank, seized the opportunity to strike when they spotted their victim. Despite the intense exchanged of gunfire between the robbers and the Police, they managed to escape with the cash. Some people who witnessed the incident said there was a delay in the Police response, which may have contributed to their escape. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The Ghana Police Service has expressed reservations about the report on corruption perception survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). A research conducted by the GSS together with CHRAJ and UNODC ranked the Ghana Police Service as the most corrupt institution in the country. According to the survey, more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with Police officers topping the list of officials who take bribes with 53.2%. Police Service Ghana’s most corrupt institution – Research

The Ghana Police Service is the most corrupt institution in the country, a research conducted by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) together with other stakeholders has stated. In total, 24 institutions were sampled for the said survey.  The research was christened; Corruption in Ghana, Peoples Experiences and View. The survey aimed to unearth corrupt institutions and provide data that will guide the formulation of policies in arresting the menace.  According to the survey, more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with police officers topping the list of officials who take bribes at 53.2%.
