The Church of Pentecost has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed and fully furnished police station at Kawampe as part of its ongoing commitment to national development and public safety.
The facility, commissioned on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, was officially handed over to the Government of Ghana on behalf of the church by the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, who represented the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.
Present at the commissioning ceremony were the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi; the Director-General of the National Police Protection Department of the Ghana Police Service, COP Dr. Sayibu Padi Gariba; senior officers of the Ghana Police Service; traditional leaders; ministers and officers of The Church of Pentecost; state officials; and members of the community.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi described the project as part of the church’s broader “Possessing the Nations” agenda under its Safety and Security initiative, aimed at supporting national security institutions through infrastructure, logistics, and chaplaincy services.
“We are gathered this morning to witness the commissioning of the third police station facility to be constructed by The Church of Pentecost for the Ghana Police Service,” he stated.
According to him, the church believes that national transformation cannot be separated from peace and security, hence the deliberate investment in institutions that promote law and order.
“So far, under this project, three correctional facilities, one fire station, and two police stations have been constructed, furnished, and handed over to the Government, coupled with other logistical support,” he disclosed.
The newly commissioned Kawampe Police Station contains a charge office, Station Officer’s office, CID office, investigations room, male and female cells, an exhibit room, and an armoury.
Describing the significance of the project, Apostle Obuobi noted that a police station represents more than just a building.
“A police station is more than bricks and mortar. It is a beacon of security, a place where the people’s concerns are heard, where order is maintained, and where peace is safeguarded,” portions of the speech read.
He further explained that the establishment of the station responds directly to the security needs of the community and is intended to bring policing closer to the people while creating a peaceful atmosphere for development.
The commissioning of the Kawampe Police Station adds to a growing list of major social intervention projects undertaken by The Church of Pentecost across Ghana in recent years.
From May 2025 to date alone, the church has commissioned four major public-benefit projects, including a fire station at Yesukrom near Gomoa-Fetteh, a hospital at Kumbangre near Bolgatanga, a state-of-the-art correctional facility at Damango, and now the Kawampe Police Station.
The church also revealed that several additional projects are currently under construction nationwide, particularly in the health sector, where five health facilities — including a specialist hospital in Accra — are ongoing.
Beyond security infrastructure, The Church of Pentecost continues to invest heavily in education, healthcare, skills training, agribusiness, water provision, sanitation, and livelihood empowerment programmes as part of its holistic ministry approach.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, stated that the impact of The Church of Pentecost continues to be felt across the country through its numerous social interventions, including the construction of modern healthcare facilities and the provision of boreholes in deprived communities.
He noted that the commissioning of the police station further demonstrates the church’s commitment to supporting the development of the region and the nation at large.
He explained that the project would significantly enhance security and help protect lives and property within the community, describing it as a timely intervention that would bring relief and safety to residents.
Referencing Jeremiah 29:7, the Minister highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in nation-building, stressing that development thrives when institutions work together for the common good of society.
He commended The Church of Pentecost for its vision and dedication to improving the livelihoods of Ghanaians, adding that such partnerships remain crucial for sustainable national development.
The commissioning ceremony ended with the official handing over of the keys to the Regional Minister for operational use by the Ghana Police Service.
“As we inaugurate the Kawampe Police Station today, may it stand as a fortress of peace and a testament to our dedication to progress,” Apostle Obuobi declared.
