Fuel prices to go down by ¢1 from April 1 – Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors

The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (COBD) has forecast an up to ¢1 per litre reduction in the price of petrol and diesel by April 1, 2022. This follows several engagements the COBD had with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and stakeholders to fashion out interventions, aimed at reducing the prices at the various pumps. Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has revealed a wide range of plans to salvage the country’s economy. The Minister, at a press conference in Accra, expressed optimism that the measures will go a long way to cushion the citizenry amid the economic downturn. Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has appealed to all Ghanaians to register their SIM cards by the extended deadline provided by the Ministry. The SIM re-registration, which began in October last year, was supposed to end this March but the Ministry of Communications in consultation with the Telecom service providers has extended the deadline to July 31st. Fuel prices reduced by 15 pesewas per litre

The government has decided to reduce margins in the petroleum price build-up by a total of 15 pesewas per litre with effect from April 1, 2022. The reduction in margins is expected to reduce prices of petrol by 1.6 percent and diesel by 1.4 percent. This is part of measures to help mitigate the impact of the rising price of petroleum products at the pump, for the next three months [April to June, 2022]. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has opened a new terminal building at Lagos' main international airport that has the capacity to process 14 million travellers a year.
