The Women’s Ministry of the Two Streams District in the Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost has extended love and support to inmates of the Koforidua Prison through a donation exercise and an outreach programme aimed at restoring hope and dignity.
The visit, which took place on Friday, May 8, 2026, formed part of activities marking the annual Women’s Ministry Week celebration.
As part of the outreach, the ministry donated items worth approximately GH₵3,000.00 to support the welfare of the inmates. The items included cooked meals, toiletries, detergents, and other cleaning supplies.
Presenting the items on behalf of the ministry, Mrs Philipina Yanney, wife of the District Pastor, described the gesture as the ministry’s contribution towards supporting the inmates and demonstrating the love of Christ to them.
She noted that although the donation might appear small, it was given wholeheartedly to remind the inmates that they remain important and valued members of society.
Beyond the presentation of items, Mrs Yanney shared an exhortation on the theme, “God Has Not Forgotten You,” encouraging the inmates not to lose hope regardless of their present circumstances.
Drawing lessons from Scripture, she explained that God’s mercy and grace remain available to everyone who genuinely seeks Him. She assured the inmates that their current condition does not determine their future and urged them to embrace repentance and transformation through Christ.
Quoting from Jeremiah 29:11, she stressed that God still has a good plan for every life. She also referenced the biblical accounts of Joseph and Peter, explaining that imprisonment became part of their journey toward fulfilling God’s purpose.
According to her, prison should not be seen as a destination but rather as a place of reflection and transformation.
Mrs Yanney further cited the story of the thief on the cross in Luke 23:39-43 to demonstrate that salvation and restoration are possible even in difficult situations. She encouraged the inmates to remain hopeful and surrender their lives to Christ.
Receiving the items on behalf of the prison authorities and inmates, the Duty Officer, ASP Bright Opoku, expressed appreciation to the Women’s Ministry for the thoughtful gesture.
He commended the ministry for remembering the inmates and noted that such acts of kindness greatly support the work of the prison administration while also encouraging the inmates emotionally and spiritually.
The outreach concluded with prayers for the inmates and prison officers, creating an atmosphere of hope, encouragement, and spiritual renewal within the facility.
