In a generation where outward appearance often receives greater attention than inward character, God continues to call women to a life of holiness, virtue, and Christlike living. The phrase “Holiness Unto the Lord,” long associated with The Church of Pentecost, is far more than a slogan displayed on banners or convention grounds. It is a divine mandate that must be reflected in the daily conduct, speech, relationships, and choices of every believer.
Scripture declares in Proverbs 31:30 that “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” This timeless truth remains relevant today, where many are pressured to measure worth by physical beauty, popularity, material success, and social approval. Yet, God’s standard for womanhood remains rooted in reverence, purity, humility, and spiritual maturity.
The contemporary world does not merely need accomplished or influential women; it needs godly women whose lives reveal Christ. Women whose presence brings peace, healing, wisdom, and transformation to homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. Women whose character becomes a testimony of God’s grace in a morally wounded world.
According to 1 Peter 1:15-16, believers are called to holiness because God Himself is holy. True holiness, however, extends beyond outward appearance. It begins with inward transformation and is reflected in attitude, conduct, speech, and private devotion. A person may appear outwardly religious while harbouring bitterness, jealousy, pride, or unforgiveness within. God’s desire is not simply outward conformity but a transformed heart that reflects His nature.
To be Christlike is to become a reflection of Jesus Christ in both character and lifestyle. Christ demonstrated compassion to the broken, dignity toward the rejected, purity in conduct, wisdom in speech, and complete obedience to the Father. Likewise, a godly woman is not defined only by public expressions of faith but also by how she lives in private, how she treats others, and how she responds to life’s challenges.
In recent times, many women, especially the youth, face increasing pressure to conform to worldly standards promoted through social media and popular culture. Identity is often shaped by trends, external validation, and public attention, leaving many struggling with low self-esteem, emotional burdens, and moral compromise. Yet Romans 12:2 admonishes believers not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed through the renewing of the mind.
A woman of change influences society with godly values instead of simply following cultural trends. Like Esther, she recognises that she has been positioned for a divine purpose. Esther’s significance did not lie in beauty alone but in her courage, prayer life, wisdom, and obedience to God’s direction. Similarly, the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31 remains a model of diligence, compassion, discipline, and godliness. Her true adornment was strength and honour rather than outward glamour.
The Bible also reminds believers that women of valor are not necessarily those without struggles. Many have endured disappointment, rejection, pain, or hardship, yet they remain steadfast in faith. Ruth demonstrated loyalty during difficult times. Hannah persevered in prayer despite seasons of waiting, while Mary surrendered fully to God’s will, declaring, “Be it unto me according to thy word.”
The role of women in rebuilding families and restoring spiritual foundations cannot be overlooked. Many homes today suffer from a lack of prayer, wisdom, respect, and godliness rather than material resources. A Christlike woman becomes a pillar of strength within her home, creating an atmosphere where peace, discipline, and love can flourish. Proverbs 14:1 emphasises that a wise woman builds her house, while careless actions can destroy it.
Holiness must also produce humility and compassion rather than pride or self-righteousness. A truly holy woman becomes a vessel through which God’s grace reaches others. She uplifts the weak, encourages younger women, corrects in love, and reflects the compassion of Christ in both words and actions.
As the Church continues to pursue its vision of possessing the nations, there is an urgent need to raise women who are not merely church attendees but kingdom builders — women of integrity, wisdom, prayer, courage, and consistent godly character.
The world has heard many sermons, but it still longs to see living examples of Christ. In these uncertain times, a Christlike woman remains one of God’s greatest instruments for transformation and hope in society.
