Workers at the Suame Magazine industrial area have called on government to commission an abandoned hospital facility that was established two years ago at the site. The fully completed facility which was going to meet the medical needs of the artisans and residents in surrounding areas has been left disused awaiting commissioning by government. Some workers on site, lamented that several attempts to commission the building have failed as stakeholders constantly call the ceremony off without a statement. The abandoned facility has been left at the mercy of some unscrupulous folks who are gradually turning the facility into a dumping site. No, we don’t buy kidneys – Hospital

Kenya's top public hospital says there has been an increase in the number of people making inquiries and offering to sell their kidneys. In a Facebook post, Kenyatta National Hospital said "How much for my kidney?" was the most asked question through the inbox on their page. The hospital however advised that though body organs could be donated to needy cases, they could not be sold. "Please note that organ sale is strictly prohibited and illegal. You can only donate out of free will," it said. The hospital's poster highlights the desperate measures people are contemplating amid increases in food and fuel prices. A 55-year-old man was on Thursday, August 19, found dead after he allegedly escaped from the Covid-19 Centre of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital. Hospital authorities say Paulus Okine left the covid treatment centre because of his insistence that he had not contracted the disease. He had reported to the hospital's Accident and Emergency Department where he was screened.
