Moulay Brahim was once a happy place for Sami Sensis. The village is located high in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, and its scenery, the fresh air, the friendly people drew his parents there nearly every summer. Now they are buried somewhere under the rubble of their hotel on the edge of what remains of the village. The building partially collapsed after a powerful earthquake struck Moulay Brahim late on Friday night. The epicentre of the 6.8-magnitude earthquake was not far from the village that lies about two hours southwest of Marrakech. THE German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Appointed Time, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies,  have donated laboratory equipment worth over €27,000 (¢317,000) to the Pentecost Hospital at Madina in the Greater Accra Region. The donation was to fulfil a request by the management of the hospital to meet the demand of services from growing number of patients who visit the facility daily. Presenting the equipment to the hospital on behalf of GIZ and Jospong Group, the Chief Corporate Communication Officer at Jospong Group of Companies, Sophia Kudjordji, said the donation was to help management address the pressure on the facility. The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development in partnership with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management company, has embarked on a nationwide exercise to clear all districts of refuse dumps. The exercise formed part of the government’s agenda of keeping the country clean and to improve the sanitation situation in the country. In the Ashanti Region, two districts are benefitting from the exercise where age-old refuse dumps have been cleared. Vodafone teams up with Amazon’s to extend 5G reach to Europe and Africa.

Vodafone plans to work with Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation Project Kuiper to extend the reach of its 4G and 5G telecoms networks in Europe and Africa. The British mobile operator said Project Kuiper’s high-bandwidth, low-latency satellites would be used to connect mobile base stations in remote locations to its core networks, eliminating the need for fibre-based or fixed wireless links. NIA opens all district offices for free Ghana Card registration.

Effective Monday, September 4, 2023, Phase II of the Ghana Card Registration exercise will commence, and all Ghanaians aged 15 years and above are eligible to register for the Ghana Card free of charge as first-time applicants at any of the National Identification Authority (NIA) 276 District Offices across the country.  This free registration service is also available at NIA Regional Offices in Accra, Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Dambai, Damongo, Goaso, Nalerigu and Wa.
