The judge who sentenced Aisha Huang, known as the Galamsey Kingpin, to four-and-a-half years in prison and a fine of GH¢48,000, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, had expressed a desire for a more severe sentence if she had the authority. Justice Lydia Osei Marfo remarked that the crimes committed by Aisha Huang were serious and harmful to the State. While delivering her ruling on Monday, December 4, she explained that the prosecution of the Chinese national was carried out under Act 900, which previously set a maximum penalty of five years for engaging in mining activities without a license. The Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Joe Anokye, has revealed that 5G wireless data communication will soon be made available to mobile carriers. Over 70k people in Ashanti Region estimated to be living with HIV

A total of 72,429 people in the Ashanti Region are estimated to be living with HIV, according to the Ghana Aids Commission 2022 report. Out of this number, only 26,006 are currently on Anti-Retroviral (ARV) medication at health facilities, leaving a gap of 46,421 who cannot be accounted for in terms of antiretroviral uptake. These individuals are either unaware of their status or have defaulted on ARV treatment. The 2023 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) into Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Schools (TVET) has gone live today. In a press statement from the Ministry of Education, out of the total number of 598,839 results received from WAEC, 585,797 candidates qualified to be placed. "A total of 477,772 (81.56%) have automatically been placed in one of their choices," the ministry stated This, according to the ministry, is a significant improvement compared to last year. Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has implemented an upward review of its voice and data prices for most of its products and services for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The new pricing takes effect on Tuesday, November 28. The price review impacts voice, SMS (text messaging) and data including Fiber Broadband and Fixed Wireless Access (4G Router/Turbonet) customers.
