Pastor Stephen Ameyaw Frimpong, the Sepe-Buokrom District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, has underscored the divine purpose of Jesus’ death in liberating humanity from sin and death.

Delivering a sermon at the New Tafo Zone Easter Convention on Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, held at the New Tafo M/A Division School Park in the New Tafo Area, he highlighted the substitutionary nature of Jesus’ death, emphasising that through Christ, believers are redeemed and reconciled to God.

Preaching on the topic “Tetelestai” under the overarching theme, “Jesus Christ—The Lamb of God who Takes Away the Sin of the World,” Pastor Ameyaw Frimpong drew from John 19:30 to illustrate the finality and sufficiency of Jesus’ sacrifice. Unlike the repeated Old Testament sacrifices for atonement, he explained, Jesus’ offering was a one-time, all-encompassing act of redemption.

He further explained that Tetelestai, a Greek term, conveys a strong sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and victory. Jesus’ proclamation of this word on the cross, Pastor Frimpong noted, marked the culmination of His redemptive mission for mankind.

He also highlighted Jesus’ unique qualification to take away the sins of the world, rooted in His virgin birth and sinless nature. He addressed the scope of Jesus’ sacrifice, which covered original, imputed, omitted, and committed sins. He, therefore, urged believers to live in a manner worthy of their salvation, citing Romans 6:1-2 as a call to holy living.

Concluding his message, Pastor Ameyaw Frimpong referenced Matthew 27:45ff and the supernatural events surrounding Jesus’ death, reflecting on their profound significance. He reiterated that Jesus’ death was a divine act of redemption for humanity, calling on unbelievers to place their faith in Jesus for salvation.
