On Thursday, 30th April 2026, the Sefwi Bekwai Area of The Church of Pentecost organized a highly impactful Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Seminar at the Bekwai Central Assembly auditorium.
The program brought together an impressive number of 595 candidates from schools across the municipality, marking one of the largest gatherings of its kind in recent years. Some of the schools were, Catholic A JHS, Catholic B JHS, SDA JHS, M/A JHS, Sukusuku JHS, Baakokrom JHS, future leaders, Dr. Yaw Ackah JHS, Praise academy, Abanaba JHS and others.
This initiative was carefully designed to prepare students not only academically but also spiritually and emotionally, equipping them with the tools needed to face one of the most decisive examinations in their educational journey.
In his short but inspiring welcome, the Area Head, Pastor Stephen Bonzoe, encouraged the candidates to face the upcoming examinations with confidence and faith. He reminded them of the biblical assurance in 2 Timothy 1:7 that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” He further urged them to commit their efforts to God, quoting Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Pastor Bonzoe concluded by advising the students to read questions carefully, manage their time wisely, and remain focused, assuring them that with God’s help, success is within reach.
The seminar was carefully structured to address the holistic needs of the candidates. Beyond academic strategies, it sought to prepare them emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically for the task ahead.
A key highlight was the session led by Mrs. Lydia Bonzoe, wife of the Area Head, who is also a registered counseling psychologist. Her presentations were both practical and inspiring, covering critical areas such as: Examination Anxiety and Its Management – Techniques to overcome fear and nervousness before and during exams, Examination Malpractice and Its Consequences – A sobering reminder of the dangers of dishonesty and the importance of integrity, Senior High School Course Selection and Career Guidance – Helping students make informed choices about subject combinations and future career paths, Life After BECE – Preparing candidates to embrace the next phase of their academic and personal development with confidence.
Her sessions were interactive, engaging, and deeply appreciated by both students and teachers present.
In addition to the spiritual and psychological empowerment, the Sefwi Bekwai Area demonstrated practical support by distributing essential learning materials to the candidates. Items such as mathematical sets and pens, valued at over GHC 10,000.00, were provided to ensure that no student is disadvantaged due to lack of resources.
The joy and gratitude expressed by the students upon receiving these items underscored the importance of such gestures. It was a clear demonstration of the Church’s commitment to nurturing the future leaders of the nation.
The seminar was graced by several key leaders of the Area, whose presence added weight to the occasion. Among them were: Pastor Stephen Bonzoe – Area Head, Sefwi Bekwai, Mrs. Lydia Bonzoe – Counseling Psychologist and Guest Speaker, Pastor Saviour Gomela – Area Schools Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Philip Batsa – Area Youth Leader, Pastor Edward Dankwah – Market Square District Pastor, Elders of the Church, teachers, and other stakeholders
Their collective involvement highlighted the collaborative spirit of the Church in supporting education and youth development.
As the candidates return to their schools and homes, they carry with them renewed confidence, sharpened focus, and a strong conviction that with God’s help, success is assured.
