The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has underscored the need for Christians to become Spirit-filled disciples capable of transforming society through the values and principles of the Kingdom of God.
He made these remarks today [May 1, 2026] while speaking on the topic, “The Spirit-Filled Disciple,” during the foundation stone laying service for the Agormanya Central Auditorium and Area Offices Project.
Addressing the congregation, Apostle Obuobi explained that the church’s “Possessing the Nations” agenda is centred on unleashing believers into society to influence their world with the righteousness and values of the Kingdom of God.
According to him, believers have been released as agents of transformation, stressing that it takes Spirit-filled disciples to fulfill the vision of transforming society.
“In the Possessing the Nations agenda, the whole church has been unleashed to transform their world with the values and principles of the Kingdom,” he stated.
He noted that the local church remains central to this mission because it serves as the place where believers are equipped and unleashed into society. For this reason, he urged Christians to place high value on the local church and its discipleship mandate.
“The local church exists for discipleship. One of the reasons why the church exists is to raise Christ-like disciples,” he said, adding that evangelism should not end at soul winning but must continue through intentional discipleship.
Apostle Obuobi further outlined the characteristics of a Spirit-filled disciple, explaining that such believers walk by the Spirit and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit as captured in Galatians 5:22-23, including love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
He also referenced Colossians 3:12-14 and 2 Peter 1, highlighting virtues such as compassion, humility, meekness, patience, godliness, brotherly affection, and love as visible marks of Spirit-filled Christians.
“The one who demonstrates these virtues is the Spirit-filled disciple,” he noted.
Encouraging believers to pursue spiritual growth and maturity, Apostle Obuobi stated that bearing the fruit of the Spirit is essential to living a productive and effective Christian life.
“For you to be productive and effective, the key is to bear the fruit of the Spirit,” he emphasized.
He concluded by urging Christians to continually walk by the Spirit, noting that those who do so will remain steadfast in their faith and ultimately receive eternal reward.
