The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has debunked claims by some traders at the Adum railways market that the recent demolition exercise was unannounced.
According to Dr. Amoakohene, the traders were given a one-week ultimatum to evacuate the area before the demolition exercise began.
He made this clarification in an interview with the media, stating that the demolition was a collaborative effort between the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), police, and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) aimed at creating vehicular access.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that the traders were given ample time to vacate the premises, but some of them failed to do so, assuring that compensation will be provided for destroyed properties.
This development aims to address concerns raised by traders and ensure a smooth process.
