Create a budget to fight cyber crime – Cyber Security Authority to businesses
The Cyber Security Authority is making a strong case for businesses to set aside about 15% of their budgetary allocation to fight digital crime.
This has become necessary to protect businesses against growing incidents of cyber-crimes across the world.
Acting Executive Director for the Cyber Security Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako made the call in an interview with Joy Business after addressing stakeholders at the launch of the 2022 Cyber Security Awareness Month under the theme; “Regulating Cybersecurity-a public private sector collaborative approach”.

Pakistan floods: ‘It’s like fighting a war with no end’
More than 2,000 hospitals and health centres were damaged or destroyed in recent floods in Pakistan – and families and their children are battling malnutrition and infection in what’s now a public health emergency.
Doctors like Ammara Gohar are on the front lines of the crisis as the UN launches a fresh appeal for the world to send more aid.

CAF re-opens bids for AFCON 2025
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has re-opened bids for the hosting rights of AFCON 2025 after they were taken away from original host Guinea.
The CAF Executive Committee met on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Algiers, Algeria where the announcement was made.
Guinea were stripped of the competition following a meeting on Friday in Conakry between Guinea’s interim president, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, and the president of African football’s governing body, Patrice Motsepe, to discuss the withdrawal after the west African country, among the poorest of the continent, said it was not ready to host the 24-nation tournament.
In 2014, Guinea originally were awarded the hosting rights to the 2023 finals, along with Cameroon (2019) and Ivory Coast (2021).

Indonesia: At least 174 dead in football stadium crush
At least 174 people have died in a crush at an Indonesian football match that has become one of the world’s worst stadium disasters.
About 180 were also hurt in aftermath of home team Arema FC’s loss to bitter rivals at the overcrowded stadium late on Saturday in Malang, East Java.
The crush took place after police tear-gassed fans who invaded the pitch.
As panic spread, thousands surged towards Kanjuruhan stadium’s exits, where many suffocated.
Fifa, the world’s governing football body, states that no “crowd control gas” should be carried or used by stewards or police at matches.
One eyewitness told the BBC that police had fired numerous tear gas rounds “continuously and fast” after the situation with fans became “tense”.

Green Ghana Project: Police probes tree seedlings found on a refuse dump site
The Asante Mampong Divisional Police Command is investigating a case in which about 8,011 tree seedlings of various species were found dumped at a refuse site at Bosofuor, near Asante-Mampong.
The seedlings were discovered on July 28, this year, by guards of the Asante-Mampong Forest district, during their routine checks to inspect trees planted at the Offin Headwaters Forest Reserve in the area.
A total of 5,891 of the seedlings which were found to be in good condition after sorting, have since been planted by the forestry officials.

How world leaders were bused to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral today
The funeral service for the late Queen Elizabeth II is being held today in the United Kingdom.
The landmark event at the Westminster Abbey in London has seen numerous leaders from around the world arrive at the invitation of King Charles III.
In an interesting turn, however, all heads of state and royals were billed to appear at the Westminster Abbey via a bus with the exception of the US president, Joe Biden who was driven in his official vehicle, ‘The Beast.
Though this move raised some eyebrows, it was followed through.
These leaders are there to commiserate with the British people and pay their last respects to the former head of the Commonwealth.

Palaces Must Be Centres Of Christian Worship – Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong
The Chief Executive Officer of Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, has entreated the clergy to adopt the palaces as a centre of worship in rediscovering the purpose of the church.
According to the Presbyterian Minister, often Christians see traditional leaders as idol worshippers. This impression, he said, is erroneous since chiefs can worship God and, therefore, require the word of God in leading the people.

‘God Will Hold Pastors Accountable For What They Preach’
The President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, Very Rev. Professor Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has charged the clergy to be mindful and measured in the kind of messages preached on the pulpits since God will hold them accountable for what they preach.
“We are accountable to God for what we preach and stand for. Don’t use the Word and Gifts of God in an exploitative manner or fight your personal battles,” he said.
