The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana on Friday, June 17, 2022, organised and supervised the 2022/2023 academic year elections of Pentecost Preparatory School, Ansaful (PPS-Ansaful) at the school premises.  This historic event was held under the auspices of Apostle Samuel Out-Appiah (Winneba Area Head, The Church of Pentecost), Elder Ishmael K.A. Otabil (Headteacher, PPS-Ansaful), and Pastor Kwao Dosu (Manager, PPS -Ansaful) According to Elder Ishmael Otabil, the motive of involving the EC in the school’s elections is to train and educate students on democratic governance and the act of exercising their franchise. E-Levy yields GH¢93.7m in 2 months

The government mobilised GH¢93.7 million revenue from the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) in the first two months of implementation. The amount, mobilised in May and June this year, was about 93.59 percent lower than the GH¢1.46 billion target set in this year’s budget. Due to this, the government has revised the revenue target for the levy from the initial annual projection of GH¢6.96 billion to GH¢611 million in the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review released last Tuesday. Countries with cheapest mobile data: Where does Ghana rank?

Ghana has made it onto the list of countries with the cheapest mobile data in the world. This conclusion came from a survey conducted by The Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022 report. It was compiled by Cable.co.uk which saw data from 5,292 mobile data plans analysed from 233 countries. The findings were based on how much one gigabyte (GB) of data costs in the selected countries. Ghana placed 40th with an average price of $0.61 (¢5.12) per gigabyte after 12 data plans were examined. In Africa, however, Ghana is ranked second after Libya. Somalia and Morocco came in third and fourth, respectively. In all, Israel comes top with $0.04 per GB, followed by Italy, San Marino and Fiji as countries whose users enjoy the cheapest mobile data. The foundation, Elsie Effah Kaufmann Foundation (EEKF), seeks to help bridge the current deficit in STEM related programmes in Ghana by providing the necessary tools needed for a thorough and practical study of the subjects. The Ghana Police Service has expressed reservations about the report on corruption perception survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). A research conducted by the GSS together with CHRAJ and UNODC ranked the Ghana Police Service as the most corrupt institution in the country. According to the survey, more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with Police officers topping the list of officials who take bribes with 53.2%. Police and Presidency perceived as Ghana’s most corrupt institutions – Afrobarometer

The Ghana Police Service and the Office of the President are perceived as the country’s most corrupt institutions. This is the outcome of an Afrobarometer study undertaken by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana). The research found that the Police’s score of 65% placed it at the top of the chain while the Presidency followed in second position with 55%. The report also placed members of Parliament as the third group of people in the pack with a score of 54%. Per the assessment, positive ratings of the President’s performance declined by 31 percentage points between 2019 and 2022, from 61% to 30%.
