Judiciary opens high court doors for live coverage of anti-LGBT+ bill hearings today

The Judiciary will open the High Court today for live media coverage of the anti-LGBT+ bill proceedings. Previously, the Chief Justice allowed media houses to livestream the hearing of Richard Sky’s injunction application on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill. Now, the Judicial Service has extended this access to all cases related to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill. This was after the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, urged the Chief Justice to permit live coverage of proceedings related to the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill. A dramatic daylight robbery unfolded at the Pan African Savings and Loans, located adjacent to FBN Bank on the Spintex road in Accra. According to reports, two young armed robbers trailed someone carrying a bag full of cash to the bank. The robbers, who had reportedly been hovering around the Top Pharmacy opposite the bank, seized the opportunity to strike when they spotted their victim. Despite the intense exchanged of gunfire between the robbers and the Police, they managed to escape with the cash. Some people who witnessed the incident said there was a delay in the Police response, which may have contributed to their escape. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Ghana’s national amputee football team, Black Challenge has been crowned champions of the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON) tournament.The team trashed Morocco 2-1 to emerge champions in the finals played on Monday night.Ghana has now won the Amputee AAFCON back-to-back after also emerging as champions in 2021. The Ghana Black Challenge is also a champion of the 1st African Para Games Football, held in 2023. They’ll represent Africa in the Amputee World Cup in 2026.
