2 dead, others injured in road accident at Asankare Barrier

Two people reportedly died on the spot in an accident involving a VIP yutong bus and trailer at Asankare barrier in the Asante Akyem South district of the Ashanti region. The accident which occurred Saturday night also left several others injured. According reports, the VIP bus with registration number GE 6167-19, travelling from Accra-Kumasi collided with the trailer heading to Accra. It is unclear how the driver of the VIP bus veered off its lane and collided head-on with the trailer. Many passengers also were left with fractured limbs. Personnel from the Motor, Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and Fire Service at Juaso rushed to the scene. GWCL announces interruption in water supply from Kpong Treatment Plant

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced that engineers will be working on the main transmission pipeline from the Kpong Treatment Plant to the eastern part of Accra. For this reason, the management of GWCL in a press statement, revealed that there will be an interruption in water supply from Sunday 24th September to Thursday 28th September 2023. Affected areas include Gbetsile, Afienya, Zenu, Prampram, Mataheko, Katamanso, Dawhenya, Sakumono, Batsonaa, Klagon, Tema Township, Adjei Kojo, Borteyman, Santeo and surrounding areas.  The GWCL urged residents of these communities to store enough water during the period in which the works will be carried out. The Electoral Commission has explained that eligible voters who are unable to register in the Commission’s district offices nationwide would have to do so next year. A Doctor at the Urology Department at Korle-Bu, Dr Daniel Asiedu has cautioned the public that no traditional or herbal medicine has been approved for the treatment of prostate cancer. He bemoaned the increasing rate at which people are roaming the streets with various herbal medicines believed to cure or prevent prostate cancer. “They have PA systems with loud speakers that they play and anytime I meet them, the kind of information they are giving out to the public, I sometimes want to scream from my car that they are lying. “They are giving out wrong information to the public.
