The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has urged Christians to take responsibility for shaping society by projecting Kingdom values into every sphere of national life.
Speaking on the opening day of the Agona Swedru Area Officers’ Retreat at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Agona Swedru, Apostle Obuobi stressed that believers must move beyond church activities and actively influence governance, business, education, and community life.
According to him, many societal challenges—including corruption, moral decline, drug abuse, and weakening Christian influence—persist because believers have failed to fully carry their faith into the spaces where they work and serve.
He explained that the gospel is not only about personal salvation but also about transforming systems and structures through righteousness, integrity, justice, diligence, and patriotism.
Referencing the Protestant Reformation, Apostle Obuobi noted that societies were reshaped when believers understood that their professions were callings from God and that secular work is as sacred as ministry on the pulpit.
“Every believer is a minister. Your workplace is your pulpit. Your profession is your service to God and to society,” he emphasized.
He added that when Christians embrace biblical principles such as the dignity of labour, equality before God, integrity in contracts and business, and long-term nation-building, national transformation becomes possible.
Apostle Obuobi further stressed that such transformation can only be sustained through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, warning that intellectual arguments alone cannot change a “sin-sick world.”
He therefore called on church officers to model Kingdom living and equip members to influence their various fields with the power of the gospel.
The retreat seeks to equip officers with the necessary insight and direction to effectively lead and serve in line with the Church’s vision for the year.
