The journey of the Bungu Local Assembly in the Namoo District of the Bolgatanga Area of The Church of Pentecost, which began twenty-three years ago beneath the humble canopy of a dawadawa tree, reached a historic milestone on Saturday, December 27, 2025. In a ceremony marked by jubilation and solemn reflection, the Bolgatanga Area Head of the church, Apostle David Amankwaa, officially dedicated the assembly’s new building to the glory of God.
The event was a crowning achievement for the District Minister, Probationary Overseer Jude Mireku Gyan, and his wife, Mrs Grace Mireku Gyan, who faithfully shepherded the congregation through the final, victorious phase of the building project.
Established in 2002 by the late Pastor David Azagsiya, the assembly spent its first decade exposed to the elements, worshipping under nature’s canopy. The transition from the soil beneath a tree to a “magnificent sanctuary” is being hailed as a “divine breakthrough” after years of persistent prayer and communal sacrifice.
“This sanctuary stands as living proof that He who began a good work is faithful to complete it,” the leadership of the church affirmed, citing Philippians 1:6 as the spiritual cornerstone of the project.
The completion of the Bungu church building forms part of a wider era of growth within the Bolgatanga Area. Apostle Amankwaa and his wife, Mrs Rosmond Amankwaa, were commended for their visionary leadership and for providing grants to support the completion of the project. Former Area Head, Apostle Dr Amos Jimmy Markin, who laid the foundation and provided the initial seed funding, was also commended.
The dedication further celebrated the “priceless” contributions of the local community. Gratitude was expressed to Mr Alogdongo and his family for donating the land, and to the District Executive Committee members, Presbytery, and Estates Committee. The roll of honour included Elders Peter Ayamga, Donatus Akolgo, Joseph Boakye, and Deaconesses Rebecca Aberinga and Olivia Anaba, whose “exemplary shepherding” kept the congregation united during the demanding construction period.
Today, the completed church building stands ready to serve as a multi-purpose hub for youth programmes, community outreach, and “life-changing evangelism.” As the congregation enters this new chapter, the vision remains to transform generations and shine as a beacon of hope for the community.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer that the new building would not merely be a structure of stone and mortar, but a place where “mighty revivals” are hosted and the faithful are empowered to serve the nation.
