The Bolgatanga Area of The Church of Pentecost marked the Christmas season with an impactful outreach at the Navrongo Prisons on Friday, December 19, demonstrating love, compassion, and the message of hope to inmates and prison officials. The visit formed part of the Area’s annual Christmas outreach programme, a tradition instituted by the Area Head, Apostle David Amankwaa, aimed at extending Christian care to the marginalised, particularly persons deprived of their liberty.
The outreach brought together ministers and their spouses from the Bolgatanga Area, led by the Area Prisons Coordinator, Pastor Gideon Atigya; the Prisons Associates Coordinator, Pastor Nicholas Adimah; and the Prisons Inmates Coordinator, Overseer Felix Nyarko Darko. Officials of the Ghana Prisons Service were also present, including the Upper East Regional Commander, DDP Augustine Bopam; the Second-in-Command, CSP Gloria A. Ayamga; the Regional Chaplain, Rev. DSP Joachim Yenimi Bogre; the Welfare Officer, DSP Sapak M. Daniel; and the Staff Officer, DSP Eric Atanga.
In his welcome address, DDP Augustine Bopam expressed deep appreciation to The Church of Pentecost for its consistent support and concern for inmates’ welfare. He noted that such engagements significantly boost the morale of inmates and underscore the importance of faith-based partnerships in rehabilitation efforts.
Delivering a message on behalf of the Area Head, Pastor Michael Peasah reaffirmed the Church’s divine mandate to show love and care to prisoners. Anchoring his exhortation on Matthew 25:35–40, he emphasised that ministering to inmates is a practical demonstration of Christ’s love.
The spiritual climax of the visit was the preaching of the gospel by Pastor Nicholas Adimah, which deeply touched the hearts of the inmates. As a result, 17 inmates surrendered their lives to Christ, 17 were baptised in water, and 30 received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, marking a significant moment of spiritual renewal.
In addition to the spiritual ministration, the Church donated assorted food items, toiletries, and medical supplies valued at GHS 21,000, alongside a cash donation of GHS 3,000. The items were formally presented to the prison authorities, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely and generous support. The visit concluded with a love feast, ensuring that the true spirit of Christmas – love, sharing, and fellowship – was meaningfully celebrated
