Asante Kotoko staged a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat archrivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the 2025 President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match began with Hamza Issah putting the Phobians ahead early, but Kotoko responded after the break. Peter Acquah netted the equalizer before Kwame Opoku sealed the victory with a clinical finish.
Dzito, reflecting on the win, said, “We’re thrilled with the performance. The boys showed great character, and now our focus shifted to the Toyota Cup. We’re ready for the next challenge.”
The win not only handed Kotoko bragging rights over their fiercest rivals but also gave them a confidence boost ahead of their upcoming Toyota Cup fixture in South Africa.
The President’s Cup, held annually to commemorate Ghana’s sitting president, once again delivered drama, passion, and the fierce rivalry fans expect.
