The Minister for Chieftaincy, Local Government and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, has urged The Church of Pentecost and other faith-based organisations in Ghana to invest more in education, particularly at the basic school level, as a means of moulding hearts and minds for national development.
Giving the keynote address on behalf of the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, at the opening session of the 48th Session of the General Council Meetings underway at Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa, Hon. Ibrahim shared a personal testimony, revealing that he became a Christian through a mission school established by The Church of Pentecost.
He explained that his exposure to the Church’s mission school played a decisive role in his Christian formation, noting that education is a powerful avenue for shaping young hearts, building faith, morality, and integrity. He emphasised that when the Church leads strongly in education, it can “possess more hearts and minds for Christ at their tender ages.”
Hon. Ibrahim commended The Church of Pentecost for its investment in educational infrastructure and scholarship schemes across the country and encouraged the Church and other Christian bodies to deepen their commitment to the education sector, particularly at the foundational level.
He reiterated that mission-based education remains a critical tool for national transformation, urging sustained investment in basic education as a long-term strategy for shaping responsible and value-driven citizens.
He concluded by encouraging continued commitment from faith-based organisations towards strengthening education in Ghana.
