The Minister for Chieftaincy, Local Government and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, has commended The Church of Pentecost’s national impact and role in holistic development.
Delivering the keynote address at the church’s 48th Session of the General Council Meetings at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Hon. Ibrahim conveyed warm greetings and congratulations from the Presidency to the Church for successfully convening the General Council Meetings.
“I celebrate The Church of Pentecost as a living agent in Ghana, not just as a divine sanctuary,” he stated.
He noted that the CoP has become a beacon of holistic development, bringing opportunities to many people across the country and across the globe. According to him, even in sectors traditionally considered the preserve of government, the Church has undertaken collaborative interventions that have benefited citizens, particularly in social welfare, education, and moral and civic education.
He commended the Chairman of the church, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, for introducing the Integrity and Faithfulness Awards, describing it as an initiative that creates champions of peace, promotes good citizenship, and fosters respect for authority. In a candid appeal, he remarked, “Every politician has a pastor,” and urged ministers of the gospel not to withdraw their guidance when leaders go wrong.
Touching on the church’s strategic direction, Hon. Ibrahim indicated that the church’s Vision 2023 benefited many who embraced its focus and encouraged members to prepare for Vision 2028, which he said would see believers impacting every sphere of society.
Drawing inspiration from Acts 20, he stressed the importance of transforming society through the gospel, noting that the church has been equipped with all that it needs to fulfil this mandate.
He further advised that the church should “catch them young” by establishing basic schools and strengthening Christian institutions such as Pentecost University to advance the “Possessing the Nations” agenda. He emphasised that government continues to collaborate with the Church and other faith-based institutions to promote peace, evangelism, and social stability, while urging the Church to actively mitigate social vices that threaten children.
The Local Government Minister also commended Apostle Samuel Gakpetor (Agormanya Area Head) for his role in promoting environmental discipline campaigns and mobilising members for civic responsibility initiative. He also praised the leadership of the church for advancing both spiritual and civic responsibility concurrently.
