The Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Ebenezer Hagan, has indicated that although the world appears deeply entrenched in sin and increasingly hostile to godly values, God has strategically prepared Christian youth to infiltrate society with the Gospel of Christ.
Delivering a sermon at the University of Cape Coast Centre on the topic, “Winning the Battle with the World,” he cautioned believers not to take the vision of the Church for granted, stressing that every Christian faces spiritual battles, one of the most intense being the battle with the world.
Quoting Matthew 12:29, Apostle Hagan reminded participants that victory is assured through Christ, adding, “In Jesus, we know how to overcome the world.”
Also referencing 1 John 2:15–17, he described the world as a “rival for God’s love,” warning that friendship with the world places believers in opposition to God. He further cited James 1:27 to explain that the world is polluted and Christians must remain vigilant to avoid being defiled by its influences.
Apostle Dr Hagan expressed grave concern over disturbing trends among young people, particularly the rising levels of sexual immorality, describing such social vices as destructive to the Christian faith. He urged the youth to remain steadfast and guard their spiritual lives, noting from 2 Corinthians 4:4 that the god of this world seeks to blind people from the truth of the Gospel.
Touching on the sub-theme, “Understanding the World Through the World Today,” he explained that the world operates as a system controlled by a spirit that is hostile to God, with Satan as its ruler. According to him, the world system often mimics godly values while subtly using wealth, entertainment, politics, technology, and lifestyle trends to lure believers away from their faith.
He, however, called Christians to action, outlining practical steps to overcoming the world. These include walking daily with God in His strength, operating in divine wisdom, avoiding superficial Christianity, and consciously depending on the power of the Holy Spirit.
The annual conference of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) of The Church of Pentecost commenced on Thursday, January 1, 2026, with the Cape Coast centre taking place at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) under the theme: “The Church Unleashed to Transform Society through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit.”
The four-day conference, which drew students and young adults, focused on empowering believers to confront contemporary challenges through the Gospel and the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, drawing inspiration from Acts 8:4–8, Acts 13:3, and Colossians 1:3–6.
The conference is expected to end on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
