The fundraising efforts by the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana towards the construction of the cathedral have accrued GH¢31.75 million since 2018. Out of the amount, GH¢2.21 million was contributed by various church denominations. The board disclosed this when it launched another mass fundraising strategy, dubbed: ‘The National Cathedral Week’, at a press briefing in Accra yesterday. The National Cathedral Week is slated for July 4 to 10, 2022. In a recent announcement, Twitter revealed that a small group of writers from Ghana are joining others from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to test the latest feature from the social media platform, “Notes”. Notes is a new way to write and publish long-form content on the social media platform, and will give your favourite writers on Twitter the chance to go beyond 280 characters for the first time, using a rich-text editor to capture articles, thought pieces, and other kinds of content. The National Service Scheme (NSS) and the National Teaching Council (NTC) will, from September this year, roll out a programme that will allow national service persons posted to the classrooms without teaching certificates but who are willing to teach after their service to obtain professional teaching certificates. German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund today started the first leg of a historic five-day tour of the country with a coaching clinic at the Achimota School Park in Accra. The clinic which was the second event on Dortmund's schedule after their arrival on Wednesday, saw youth coaches and legends of the German club put the youngsters from Shooting Stars FC through their paces. Ghana, Denmark renew agreement for safety on Volta Lake

Ghana and Denmark have signed a renewed agreement designed to deploy modern technology on the Volta Lake to determine safe navigational channels to reduce accidents and their attendant deaths. The agreement is part of the third phase of the Strategic Sector Collaboration (SSC) between the two countries in the maritime sector. This phase of the project will be funded at a cost of 10 million Danish Kroner, equivalent to GH¢11 million, to run from 2022 to 2025. The Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF) has cautioned the government not to go ahead with its plans to de-reserve part of the Achimota Forest as it could cause the country to lose more urban forest reserves. The Institute, instead wants the government to keep the urban forests as public lands to safeguard the vital environmental services they provide. According to the GIF, with most of Ghana's forest reserves having not been compensated for, de-reserving part of the Achimota Forest will cause owners of other forest reserves to demand the release of their lands to them.
