2025 AFCONQ: Checkout full group as Ghana clash with Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan

The Black Stars of Ghana has been placed in Group F for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The highly anticipated draw took place in Johannesburg at the SuperSport studios. Under the guidance of coach Otto Addo, Ghana will face Angola, Sudan, and Niger in their group. Notably, Ghana will compete against Sudan, coached by former Black Stars manager Kwesi Appiah. Appiah, who is the only indigenous coach to have led Ghana to the World Cup in 2014, is also the technical director of Asante Kotoko. February FIFA Rankings: Black Stars drop to 67th globally, 14th in Africa

Ghana has dropped six places in the latest FIFA World Rankings following their embarrassing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars, who finished the 2023 year in the 61st position, have now dropped to 67th on the log globally while also falling further down on the African continent. Ghana now occupies the 14th position on the CAF rankings with Cape Verde, South Africa, DR Congo all moving above the four-time AFCON winners. The changes come following the completion of the 2023 AFCON which was hosted in Cote d'Ivoire with the Elephants staging a host and win campaign. After end-to-end stuff in regular time which saw Otto Addo’s side finish the game with nine men, the Stars secured a 3-1 win in the shootout to clinch the third position courtesy of a big performance from Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.
