Over 70k people in Ashanti Region estimated to be living with HIV

A total of 72,429 people in the Ashanti Region are estimated to be living with HIV, according to the Ghana Aids Commission 2022 report. Out of this number, only 26,006 are currently on Anti-Retroviral (ARV) medication at health facilities, leaving a gap of 46,421 who cannot be accounted for in terms of antiretroviral uptake. These individuals are either unaware of their status or have defaulted on ARV treatment. Mr. Dennis Bandoh, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Focal Person for HIV/AIDS, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the region also recorded 4,618 new cases at the end of the third quarter of 2023, representing a 2.1 percent increase over last year. The 2023 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) into Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Schools (TVET) has gone live today. In a press statement from the Ministry of Education, out of the total number of 598,839 results received from WAEC, 585,797 candidates qualified to be placed. Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has implemented an upward review of its voice and data prices for most of its products and services for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The new pricing takes effect on Tuesday, November 28. The price review impacts voice, SMS (text messaging) and data including Fiber Broadband and Fixed Wireless Access (4G Router/Turbonet) customers. The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has issued a warning to the public against engaging with unapproved Money Transfer Organisations (MTOs) in the country. In an official statement on Thursday, November 16, the central bank highlighted that several MTOs operating in the remittance and Ghana Forex Market lacked approval from the Bank of Ghana. The unapproved organizations mentioned in the statement include “Lemfi, Wise, Transfer Go, Xoom-A Paypal Service, Sendwalu, Boss Revolution, BTC-Aza Finance, and Supersonic.” The Bank of Ghana explicitly advised the general public, banks, Dedicated Electronic Money Issuers (DEMI), and Enhanced Payment Service Providers (EPSP) to refrain from conducting any transactions with the mentioned institutions.https://cdn.vuukle.com/widgets/quiz.html?version=1...
