Facebook users are now able to delete some personal information that can be used by the company in the training of generative artificial intelligence models.
Meta updated the Facebook help center resource section on its website this week to include a form titled “Generative AI Data Subject Rights,” which allows users to “submit requests related to your third party information being used for generative AI model training.”

In a bid to uphold discipline and enhance patient care standards, the management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken decisive action against 16 of its staff members.
These individuals have been found guilty of various infractions, resulting in sanctions ranging from dismissals to cautionary measures and suspensions without pay.
According to Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, the hospital's Chief Executive Officer, these infractions include cases of extortion by some of the implicated staff. As the African region marks one year since the last confirmed detection of wild poliovirus type 1, Ministers of Health and other health leaders gathering for the Seventy-third session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Africa today pledged to intensify efforts to end all forms of the virus.
The region’s last confirmed case of wild poliovirus, linked to a strain circulating in Pakistan, was reported in August 2022 in Mozambique’s Tete province.
A total of nine cases were detected in both Mozambique and neighbouring Malawi, where an outbreak was confirmed in February 2022. In a coordinated response, more than 45 million children across five southern Africa countries were vaccinated against the virus.

The University of Education Winneba (UEW) has appointed Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual as Vice-Chancellor.
This takes effect from October 1, 2023 after the tenure of the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawotor Avoke, ends on September 30, 2023.
Prof. Avoke will be retiring from UEW after almost 31 years of work.

Prof. Mitchual holds a doctorate degree in Wood Science and Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and has over 20 years of experience in teaching and administrative experience in higher education.

Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamkloe, has called on Division One League side King Faisal to take their injunction against the 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elective Congress from court.
Last Monday, King Faisal and its lawyer filed the motion in the Accra High Court. They contend that the GFA’s statutes prohibit a legal Congress from convening to elect the GFA President until the new members or representatives of the Executive Committee have been duly elected.
As a result, they are asking the court to prevent the GFA from holding the presidential election on September 27 until the necessary elections for delegates from the National League Clubs, Regional Football Associations, and other constituent bodies are completed.

After 32 years of service in the Church of Pentecost (CoP), the immediate-past International Missions Director and Area Head of the Haatso Area, Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, has retired from active ministry.
In celebrating his remarkable dedication to his calling, a retirement service has been held in honour of him and his wife, Elizabeth, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Atomic.
The service was attended by the leadership of the CoP, including the Chairman, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, who presided over the service; the former Chairman, Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Nimfour Opoku Onyinah, as well as other ministers, both retired and in active service, from across the world.

Army officers have appeared on national television in Gabon to say they have taken power.
They said they were annulling the results of Saturday’s election, in which President Ali Bongo was declared the winner.
The electoral commission said Mr Bongo had won just under two-thirds of the votes in an election the opposition argued was fraudulent.
His overthrow would end his family’s 53-year hold on power in Gabon.
Twelve soldiers appeared on television announcing they were cancelling the results of the election and dissolving “all the institutions of the republic”.
