The Registrar of the National Teaching Council, Dr Christian Addai-Poku has announced that the high attrition rate in the nation’s education sector poses a great threat towards the future of the nation’s education and development. He then appealed to the government and all other stakeholders to put in place the right measures to curb the situation to avoid the looming danger. The Registrar stated that for instance, early this year a little over 16,000 Ghanaian teachers applied to the Department of Education in the UK for employment and by June 13th 2023, 10,000 of the applicants with Ghana Teacher Licenses had been certified to work in the UK without any further assessment (qualified teacher status test) by the UK government. At least 10 people, including three children, were killed when the roof of a church collapsed in northern Mexico. The collapse happened on Sunday afternoon local time as around 100 people were attending a baptism at Santa Cruz church in Ciudad Madero. Sixty people were injured, at least two of them seriously, and dozens were trapped underneath the rubble. Residents in some flood-affected communities in Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality, of the Volta Region, are still counting their losses after they were rendered homeless by floods. According to the residents, the flood started in May this year, destroying many properties and rendering families homeless, leaving them distressed and frustrated. A fetish priest, Solomon Mbalegon, aged 62, allegedly murdered his 25-year-old junior wife, Madam Nakoli Mbalegon, and committed suicide thereafter. Mr. Mbalegon, also known as ‘Okomfo’ Solomon allegedly killed Mrs Mbalegon on Thursday night for alleged suspicion of infidelity at their home at Parambo, a suburb of Yeji, Pru East District of Bono East Region. The boss of Spotify says he has no plans to completely ban content created by artificial intelligence from the music streaming platform.
