A Ghanaian peacekeeper serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force in Abyei, Sudan (UNISFA) will receive the 2022 United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award.  Captain Cecilia Erzuah, 32, who has served in Abyei since March 2022 as the Commander of the Ghana Engagement Platoon, will receive the award from Secretary-General António Guterres during a ceremony marking the International Day of UN Peacekeepers on Thursday, 25 May 2023. The Ghana National Fire Service says ten fire incidents were recorded on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Accra. This comes after a bakery and some shops were burnt at Kotobabi Abavanna Down and a similar incident at Circle Tiptoe Lane which also led to the destruction of several shops. Although no casualties were recorded, properties worth thousands of cedis were lost to the inferno on Sunday. Movement of motorists was heavily impeded Thursday morning at the Kpone Barrier portion of the main Tema-Aflao N1 road due to flood waters following an early morning downpour. Some motorists and their passengers complained of staying in gridlocks between two and five hours before making their way out of the situation. Joy News’ Carlos Calony who toured the affected areas said the floods blocked the road in front of the Bel-Acqua Bottling Company where commuters virtually sailed through running waters. Current Ghana Premier League leading scorer Hafiz Konkoni has won the NASCO Player of the Month award for April. Konkoni was among a six-man shortlist for the award alongside Sampson Eduku(Tamale City), Issah Kuka (RTU), Bassit Siedu(Accra Lions), Steven Mukwala (Asante Kotoko) and Kalo Ouattara (Berekum Chelsea). Konkoni beat all to the award with his impressive performance, scoring four goals out of five matches played. The Bechem United forward also won the NASCO Man of the Match Award once during the last month. He will receive a 43-inch NASCO Television from Electroland Ghana Limited.

Aduana FC Head Coach Kwesi Fabin has been named the NASCO Coach of the Month for April after guiding his side to stay on top of the League table. This is Coach Fabin's second Coach of the Month Award for this season after winning the February edition. He beat off competition from Karela FC's Ibrahim Tanko Shaibu, Berekum Chelsea's Christopher Ennin and Maxwell Konadu of Legon Cities. Table- toppers Aduana FC won three games out of five matches played in April and drew one game. Coach Fabin's side also scored a total of six goals and conceded three. The Ga Traditional Council Wednesday reiterated that the use of Public Address Systems by churches and other institutions outlawed as part of the ban on drumming and noisemaking remains in force. The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said at no point had the members of the Ga Traditional Council endorsed the usage of microphones and public address systems by the clergy or any other at reduced volume in auditoriums and other institutions.
