GRIDCo blames intermittent power cuts on limited gas supply

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), has explained the cause of the power cuts being experienced in parts of the country. According to a statement issued by the company, there was limited gas supply to Tema leading to a shortage of 550MW at peak time. The shortage led to the power outage in some parts of the country on Thursday night. GRIDCo subsequently apologized for the inconvenience caused.

The Church of Pentecost on Monday, October 23, 2023, presented huge relief items worth several thousands of Ghana cedis to support flood victims at Mepe and Battor and adjoining communities in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region affected by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam. Twenty-three church buildings belonging to The Church of Pentecost, a leading global Pentecostal church, have been submerged in water in the Volta Region following the controlled spillage of the Akosombo Dam. Sanitation Minister blames Akosombo Dam flood victims for not heeding warnings to evacuate

The Sanitation and Water Resources Minister, Freda Prempeh has blamed victims of the floods induced by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam for not heeding early warnings by the Volta River Authority and other state agencies to evacuate. The President of the Concerned Cocoa Farmers Association, Nana Boateng Bonsu, has called for the dissolution of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD). According to him, the time is ripe for cocoa farmers to sell their produce directly to buyers since Cocobod has failed in its duties in the interest of Ghanaian cocoa farmers.
