Government to reintroduce road toll in 2023
The government will reintroduce the collection of road toll on selected roads in the country next year.
The reintroduction of the road toll is one of the revenue measures contained in the 2023 budget presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta last week.
“The fiscal policy measures to underpin the 2023 Budget for consideration and approval by Parliament include the reintroduction of tolls on selected public roads and highways with a renewed focus on leveraging technology in the collection to address the inefficiencies characterized by the previous toll collection regime,” paragraph 462 of the 2023 Budget statement reads.
Payment of toll on public roads ceased in November 2021 as part of policy measures announced by government under the 2022 Budget.

A total of 1,045 members of the Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost have been equipped with modern skills to enable them thrive in the world of business during the 2022 edition of the “Business and Entrepreneurship Chamber Summit.”
This year’s edition of the training programme was under the theme, “Pursuing excellence as a young entrepreneur” and was held at various zonal centres across the country. The event sought to equip participants with employable skills, and also help them create jobs and reach for self-reliance.

National Service Releases PIN Codes For 2022/23 Registration For Nurses
The National Service Scheme (NSS) has released 4,330 PIN Codes for registration by eligible Ghanaian-trained nurses of all accredited tertiary institutions in the country.
The registration will enable them to enrol for their mandatory national service for the 2022/2023 service year.
“All eligible trained nurses are therefore requested to log onto the Scheme’s website on www.nss.gov.gh to follow the online enrollment procedure.”

2022 WASSCE results to be released on Nov. 30 – WAEC
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for this year’s WASSCE will be released on November 30.
The Council says it has successfully completed the marking and co-ordination of the papers at all 49 venues and has commenced the processing of the results.
WAEC in a statement said investigations into examination irregularities detected during and after the exams are ongoing.
“The Council is hereby urging school authorities and candidates who have been invited to its Offices to assist with investigations into suspected cases of malpractices to endeavour to honour the invitations to facilitate the speedy resolution of those cases,” the statement noted.

SIM Card registration: Telcos start blocking subscribers in phases
Telecommunications companies (Telcos) in the country have begun blocking SIM cards of mobile subscribers yet to register their SIM cards.
The exercise is in compliance with a recent directive from the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization. The telcos are AirtelTigo, MTN, and Vodafone.
“On November 11, 2022 the Ministry announced some measures to be implemented by Operators.
