In an odd news, heavy downpour that ensued earlier today in some parts of Accra has resulted in accidents near the Airport area. Falling trees crashed several vehicles, including a motor rider who is in critical condition at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital.
The unusual cause of these series of accidents were falling trees around the airport area as a result of the heavy downpours in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2024. Near the Italian Embassy, where the incident happened, several vehicles have been crashed in traffic. This includes a motor rider who currently is in critical condition and receiving care at the Korlebu Teaching hospital, an SUV driver who emerged unscathed and several other casualties.
The Ghana National Fire Service were at the scene to mitigate the situation. The response team cut the stems of the fallen tree into pieces to ease traffic around the area.
Motorists are cautioned to be mindful of the roads and flood prone areas at Circle, the airport and other areas.
