The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has challenged Christians to move beyond spiritual experiences and demonstrate the transforming power of the Holy Spirit through meaningful impact in their communities and society.
Apostle Obuobi made the call when he joined the Ghana Police Church at Liberation Crescent, Accra, on Sunday September 27, 2026, as the special guest for its Guests Service in the company of his wife, Mrs Juliana Korkor Obuobi.
According to him, the Holy Spirit was not given to believers merely to speak in tongues, but to empower them to influence their generation positively and leave a lasting legacy for generations yet unborn.
Speaking on the theme, “Called to Make Positive Impact,” Apostle Obuobi said one of God’s purposes for His children on earth is to affect their generation and beyond.
He drew lessons from the early disciples of Jesus, describing them as ordinary people whose encounter with the Holy Spirit transformed their capacity to influence their world.
According to him, after the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, they moved around doing good, healing the sick and impacting their generation. Apostle Obuobi noted that the same empowerment remains available to believers today.
He explained that God has blessed Christians with the Holy Spirit not only to help them make it to heaven, but also to enable them to have maximum impact.
“God did not give the Holy Spirit to us only to speak in tongues but to empower us to have much greater impact on our generation and the ones yet unborn,” he stated.
Apostle Obuobi stressed that Christians have been equipped by God with the resources, abilities and spiritual gifts necessary to fulfil their purpose.
He noted that believers were not created merely to consume resources, but to make a difference through good works, service and purposeful living.
“You were not created just to consume resources, rather, God designed you to make a difference with your life,” he said.
Drawing from the life of Abraham, Apostle Obuobi explained that God’s promise to bless him was never intended to end with him.
He said God had an objective in blessing Abraham — to bless the entire world through him. He cited Genesis 12:3, where God promised that all the families of the earth would be blessed through Abraham.
He consequently encouraged Christians to view their blessings, positions, talents, resources and opportunities as avenues through which others can also experience God’s goodness.
Apostle Obuobi also challenged believers to recognise that meaningful impact does not come without sacrifice.
He said the level of impact a person makes is directly related to the price and sacrifices that person is willing and able to make.
According to him, believers are often limited in their quest to make an impact because of their unwillingness to make the necessary sacrifices.
Pointing to Jesus Christ as the ultimate example, he noted that Christ’s impact on humanity came at the cost of tremendous sacrifice, including leaving His divine glory, taking human form and becoming obedient to death on the cross.
He also referenced Abraham’s willingness to leave his country, relatives and father’s house in obedience to God’s command as another example of the price that can accompany a life of impact.
The General Secretary reminded the congregation that life is short and that believers must therefore be intentional about fulfilling their God-given assignments.
He cited David, who, according to Acts 13:36, served the purpose of God in his own generation before he died.
Apostle Obuobi urged Christians not merely to pass through life but to leave an indelible mark wherever God has placed them. He emphasised that “our time may be short, but our impact can be great,” encouraging believers to act now and use their lives for the benefit of their generation and those yet to come.
The service brought together members and worshippers of the non-denominational Ghana Police Church for a time of worship, teaching and spiritual reflection, with Apostle Obuobi’s message placing a strong emphasis on translating faith and spiritual empowerment into tangible positive influence.
