The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye, has described God’s Word as the sustaining power of all life.
Delivering a sermon titled “The Seed Is the Word” during a live televised service dubbed ‘Special Evening Service With the Chairman’ aired on PENT TV on Sunday, April 26, 2026, he highlighted the critical role of God’s Word in holding together families, marriages, businesses, and finances, as well as renewing the minds of people to enable them make meaningful impact within their spheres of influence.
Referencing Colossians 2:8, Chairman Nyamekye emphasised that the Word of God remains the safest means of keeping the Church grounded from generation to generation, rather than human philosophies and arguments.
Reflecting on the Church’s 2026 theme, he expressed optimism that the Church can transform society, explaining that the Gospel (the Word of God), when backed by the Holy Spirit, has the capacity to change lives, cultures, and systems.
Drawing from Luke 8:11 and Mark 4:13–19, the noted theologian described the “seed” as the Word of God which produces Christ-like character in people and brings genuine transformation, underscoring the need to protect it against distortion and adulteration.
Apostle Nyamekye further revealed that the enemy constantly fights the Word of God because it has the power to save (James 1:21), adding that its power cannot be underestimated, as it sustains all things (Hebrews 1:3). According to him, just as God spoke the world into existence, His Word continues to uphold life and preserve all things.
“The Word is from the beginning—all things were made by the Word of God, and without it nothing was made,” he declared.
He also described the Word as life itself (Deuteronomy 32:45–47), God’s instrument for sanctification, and a “double-edged sword” useful for both offensive and defensive purposes in spiritual warfare.
He observed, however, that many believers live in fear and remain unproductive because they are not willing to submit to the discipline of studying and practicing the Word.
Citing John 8:30–32, Apostle Dr. Nyamekye pointed out the knowledge of the truth brings freedom, and urged the congregation to abide in God’s Word in order to enjoy its blessings.
