Apostle Dr Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe, La Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, has stated that Christians do not mourn the death of Jesus Christ but celebrate it because it brought salvation and victory to humanity.
He made this assertion while preaching on Good Friday morning during the 2026 Easter Convention held at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Zone in the La Area.
According to Apostle Dr Nuekpe, the death of ordinary individuals in many communities often results in division, lasting pain, sorrow, and defeat. However, he explained that the death of Jesus Christ produced a different outcome, bringing salvation and hope to all mankind.
He emphasised that Christians celebrate rather than mourn because the death of Jesus secured victory for humanity. He noted that the death of Christ marked a turning point for mankind, replacing sorrow with joy through the salvation made available to all who believe in Him.
Using Matthew 28:1-7 as his main scriptural reference, Apostle Dr Nuekpe structured his message around the cause of Christ’s death, the significance of His death, the proof of His resurrection, and the responsibility that follows His sacrifice.
He explained that Jesus died to grant humanity forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life. According to him, these blessings demonstrate the depth of God’s love for mankind and the victory secured through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.
The 2026 Easter Convention in the La Area was organised across six zones under the theme, “He Is Risen! That I May Transform Society Through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:6).
The PIWC Zone brought together members from PIWC Kokomlemle and PIWC French, Accra, for a joint convention conducted in both English and French languages. The gathering provided an opportunity for members from diverse linguistic backgrounds to worship together and reflect on the significance of Christ’s death and resurrection.
