The 2026 Easter Convention of The Church of Pentecost officially opened on Wednesday evening across all zones in the Ho Area.
At the Kpedze Zone, the Area Head, Apostle Emmanuel Agyei Kwafo, launched the convention under the theme, “Unleashed to Tell of the Crucified and Resurrected Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:23–24; 1 Corinthians 15:3–8; Mark 16:15–16). He urged Christians to recognise their divine mandate to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ with urgency and conviction.
Apostle Kwafo emphasised that the Easter story must reach every segment of society – young and old, rich and poor, strong and weak – because Christ’s death and resurrection remain relevant to all humanity. He outlined four central truths underpinning the Easter message: Christ’s death, resurrection, ascension, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He stressed that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is integral to this narrative, affirming that Easter is not myth or vision but a historical reality.
Citing 1 Corinthians 15:3–8, he recalled how Christ died, was buried, and rose on the third day, appearing to numerous witnesses, including the disciples. He noted that although doubts initially surrounded Jesus’ messianic claim, the resurrection stands as an incontrovertible truth.
Addressing misconceptions, Apostle Kwafo rejected claims that deny the resurrection or suggest Christ was replaced, insisting that Jesus truly died and rose again. He described Him as the “firstborn from the dead” (Colossians 1:18). He further explained death as a spiritual force that holds humanity captive, but highlighted that Christ entered its realm, triumphed over it, and rose never to die again, thereby securing victory for believers.
On salvation, he stressed that it is found in the message of the cross, ordained by God. Drawing a parallel with Moses lifting up the serpent, he explained that Christ’s crucifixion was God’s chosen means of redemption.
The Apostle lamented complacency among some Christians, warning that reluctance to share the gospel undermines its transformative power. He reminded the congregation that the gospel itself carries the ability to heal, save, and renew lives.
As the convention continues, members have been encouraged not only to reflect on the Easter message but to actively proclaim it in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
