The PIWC-Ho Assembly of The Church of Pentecost at Mawuli Estate in the Ho Area has organised a week-long livelihood empowerment programme to equip members and the public with practical skills and economic opportunities.
The programme ran from Tuesday, March 10 to Sunday, March 15, and focused on equipping participants with practical skills and economic opportunities.
Speaking at the event, the Resident Minister, Pastor Alex Nsiah, said the initiative was designed to provide basic skills, mentorship, networking opportunities and access to products to help improve livelihoods.
Evening sessions featured business-focused teaching delivered by a team of church leaders and members. Topics included building livelihoods from God-given gifts, starting with available resources, sustaining businesses and finances, and balancing faith with work.
On Saturday, participants received hands-on training in skills such as fast-food preparation, pastry making, production of powdered and liquid soap, cake soap, beading, and fascinator and hatinator creation.
During Sunday’s sermon, Elder Dr Makafui Nyamadi, Ho Area Deacon, encouraged participants to remain diligent. Quoting 2 Thessalonians 3:10, he stated that those unwilling to work should not expect to eat and urged individuals to add value to their skills to increase their earning potential.
An exhibition of goods and services formed part of the programme, featuring Christian literature, food items, clothing, accessories and household products. Representatives from banks and insurance companies were also present to offer financial services.
The programme attracted participation from beyond the church, with several community members benefiting from the training and services provided. Participants expressed satisfaction with the initiative and called for it to be organised regularly.
