The Dawhenya District of the The Church of Pentecost in the Tema Area has empowered seventy-one members with a total seed capital of GHS 93,701.00 to support and strengthen their small trading ventures.
The initiative, funded through the District’s 2025 District Week III programme, forms part of the Church’s Vision 2028 agenda and reflects a deliberate commitment to holistic ministry that integrates spiritual growth with economic empowerment.
The intervention was designed to move beyond financial assistance by serving as a strategic investment in the productive capacity and dignity of members. District leadership emphasised that the objective was to help beneficiaries launch, stabilise and expand viable business ventures, thereby promoting sustainable livelihoods and community impact. The programme reflects the District’s conviction that Christian ministry must address both spiritual and socio-economic needs of members.
Under the leadership of District Pastor Ps. Bright Amankwah, the Dawhenya District has consistently pursued a balanced approach to discipleship that promotes spiritual maturity alongside economic responsibility. The District reiterated its commitment to raising members who are spiritually grounded while remaining economically resilient and socially relevant.
To ensure transparency and responsible stewardship of church resources, an interview and vetting process was instituted to assess applicants. The selection of the first batch of 71 beneficiaries was based on clearly defined criteria, including genuine need, feasibility of proposed business ideas and demonstrated commitment to stewardship principles. This structured approach reflected the District’s determination to manage resources prudently while maximising kingdom and community impact.
In addition to the financial support, a one-day empowerment and capacity-building training programme was organised for beneficiaries. Participants were equipped with essential knowledge in basic business management, financial discipline and sustainability practices. The training aimed at ensuring that the seed capital would be effectively utilised and multiplied for long-term benefit.
The District expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute to improved household income levels, strengthen local economic activity and reduce financial dependency while supporting kingdom advancement and community development.
