We Are Not Reformed or Repaired, But Recreated In Christ – Apostle Obuobi Assures Believers

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, emphasised that being a new creation in Christ means being made anew and equipped for every good work.

He made this statement on March 15, 2025, during the retirement service held in honour of Elder Charles and Deaconess Mrs. Vida Bempong at the Amantra Assembly in the Anum Asamankese District of The Church of Pentecost.

Speaking on the topic, “Understanding the New Creation,” Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi explained that God created all things before creating mankind.

He highlighted that one of humanity’s primary purposes is to steward the world that God had created, referencing Genesis 1:28.

According to him, God provided everything necessary for mankind to manage the world effectively, including external resources like water, trees, and other provisions, as well as internal resources, such as the gifts and talents embedded in every human being.

However, Apostle Obuobi noted that due to the fall caused by disobedience, man became spiritually dead. This necessitated the creation of a new man. He further explained that every believer experiences two births—physical and spiritual. While physical birth is common to all, spiritual rebirth occurs only in Christ.

This, he further noted, was what Jesus explained to Nicodemus that one must be “born again” to enter the Kingdom of God.

Apostle Obuobi stressed that this new birth is only possible in Christ, and it is those who experience this rebirth who are called the new creation.

He clarified that the new creation does not imply a mere reformation, rehabilitation, or repair of the person, but rather, a complete recreation in Christ Jesus, making them a “brand new man.”

While there is no physical transformation in a person’s appearance when they are born again, the process is entirely spiritual. “You are who God says you are. If God says anyone in Christ is a new creation, who are you to doubt? Just accept that you are a brand new man,” he affirmed.

Apostle Obuobi emphasised that one of the key purposes of the new creation is to worship the Creator, stating, “We have been saved to serve our King.” As new creations, believers are expected to serve God and pursue righteousness.

He further explained that the Kingdom believers belong to has its own set of principles and values. It is their responsibility to carry these principles and values into the world, establishing them until the kingdoms of the world align with that of God.

Reading from Ephesians 5, he explained that the new creation is made in the image and likeness of God, designed to become like Him. “As a result, we have what it takes to live a life of righteousness and holiness,” he stated.

Apostle Obuobi defined holiness as living the God-kind of life that reflects His character, including love, faithfulness, and other virtues that represent the Fruit of the Spirit in the believer.

He also pointed out that the new creation is created for good works (Ephesians 2:10) and should eagerly engage in them (Titus 2:11-14). He reminded the congregation that the new creation is God’s ambassador on earth, carrying the authority of heaven.

“The most powerful creation on earth is the new creation, because they have the authority of heaven backing them at all times,” he declared. However, he urged believers to always remember that one day the Creator will call them home, and this truth should influence how they live their lives.
