The Bawku Area of The Church of Pentecost has launched two new ministries in line with the church’s 2026 theme, “The Church Unleashed to Transform Society through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit.”
Under the leadership of Area Head, Pastor Michael Akwasi Asante, the Ministry to Shrines and Traditionalists and the Funeral Evangelism Ministry have been established to strengthen evangelistic outreach and pastoral care across the area.
Speaking at the launch and training, Pastor Asante explained that the vision is to ensure the church reaches every segment of society with the gospel while demonstrating the love and power of the Holy Spirit in practical ways.
The Ministry to Shrines and Traditionalists will engage individuals involved in traditional religious practices, fostering evangelism, discipleship, and spiritual transformation by reaching shrine custodians and traditional worshippers with the message of Christ. Trained teams will visit communities and shrines to share the gospel and support those seeking to experience the transforming power of Jesus.
The Funeral Evangelism Ministry aims to provide structured support to bereaved families within both the church and the wider community. It will coordinate funeral services, offer counseling and prayer, and assist in organizing Christian funeral rites that reflect the hope found in Christ.
Pastor Asante noted that during funerals, “everything comes to a standstill,” making them a unique opportunity to carry the gospel and the presence of the church to attendees.
To ensure effective implementation, a training session was held on Saturday, 7 March 2026, in Bawku, bringing together ministers, coordinators, and ministry executives.
Participants were equipped with the knowledge and skills required to serve with vision and compassion, ensuring the ministries are effectively integrated into the church’s mission.
Area and District Committees have also been formed to oversee the operations of the two ministries, providing guidance, monitoring progress, and ensuring alignment with the overall vision of transforming society through the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Members and leaders in the Bawku Area have welcomed the initiative, expressing confidence that these ministries, supported by trained leaders and overseen by dedicated committees, will significantly strengthen evangelism and pastoral care, helping the church continue to transform lives and communities.
