Day Two of the ‘Ashaiman for Christ Crusade’ at Lazio Park in Zenu was marked by an atmosphere of worship and renewed hope, as Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the Ashaiman Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, delivered a compelling message on the theme: “Jesus Came to Seek and to Save the Lost.”His sermon focused on the transformative encounter with Jesus Christ and the restoration of true hope.
Preaching from Luke 19:1–10, Apostle Kumi-Larbi urged the people to reflect on where they have placed their hope, indicating that genuine hope begins with understanding who Jesus is. Salvation, he said, is not an abstract religious idea but a personal and life‑changing experience for anyone who encounters Christ.
He reminded the crowd that humanity’s struggles were never part of God’s original plan. Using the story of the Garden of Eden, he explained that sin entered the world through disobedience, creating separation between humanity and God. However, he stressed that Jesus did not come to condemn, but to rescue those who feel lost, burdened or distant from God.
The former General Secretary of the church drew on the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son in Luke 15 to illustrate God’s relentless love. Just as the shepherd left the ninety‑nine to seek the one sheep in danger, he said, Jesus seeks those who have strayed. He described God as a compassionate parent who eagerly welcomes back anyone who returns with a repentant heart. According to Scripture, he noted, heaven rejoices over every single soul that is saved.
Speaking directly to attendees, he stressed that their presence at the crusade was purposeful. Many, he said, may see themselves as lost, weak or unable to help themselves, but Jesus offers renewal and new life to all who turn to Him.
The sermon became personal when Apostle Kumi-Larbi shared his own story. At fourteen, after facing severe hardship, he was declared near death. But during an all‑night church service, a message on divine royalty transformed his outlook and faith. He recounted numerous challenges, including losing his home to fire, yet he experienced unexpected breakthroughs such as a fully sponsored scholarship abroad for himself and his family. He also recalled emerging victorious in a leadership election despite contrary expectations. Through it all, he said, God preserved and directed his life.
He concluded by reaffirming that “Jesus Christ is the last stop.”Christ restores dignity, removes shame and opens new paths for anyone who turns to Him.
As the crusade continues, the central message from Zenu remains clear: no one is too lost to be found, and salvation remains a present reality for all who respond to God’s call.
