The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has emphasised the importance of excellence and holiness in the working lives of Christians.
Speaking at the opening of the church’s General Headquarters Management and Staff Retreat at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Apostle Obuobi indicated that God expects His children to demonstrate excellence in everything they do and to reject mediocrity.
Citing 2 Corinthians 8:7, the chief scribe noted that the apostle Paul commends the excellence of the saints, while Ephesians 5:25–26 underscores God’s desire for a spotless and excellent Church. He pointed out that God’s creation is perfect (Genesis 1:31), and Jesus accomplished all things marvellously well (Mark 7:37), emphasising that excellence is a defining characteristic of God’s nature.
He, therefore, urged management and staff to choose excellence, stating that it is a lifestyle reflecting the character and nature of God.
He explained that holiness is a life without sin or compromise (Hebrews 12:14; 4:15), and that believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live lives of holiness and power (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49).
The General Secretary encouraged participants to be progressive in their holiness, avoiding conformity to worldly patterns (Romans 12:2), and to strive for excellence in all aspects of life, as it brings reward, success, and progress.
He called on participants to embody excellence, a trait inherent in God’s nature, saying, “Even in our work, we must operate with discipline in an extraordinary way,” stressing that mediocrity is an affront to God’s integrity.
Apostle Obuobi prayed for the spirit of excellence to ignite passion and drive continuous improvement, in alignment with God’s methods. He encouraged participants to be spiritually prepared and poised to excel in their tasks.
