As part of activities marking its 10th anniversary celebration, the Kwatire District of The Church of Pentecost in the Sunyani Area has organised a Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) campaign and donated over 300 sanitary items to adolescent girls in the community. The District, which is celebrating a decade of God’s faithfulness under the theme, “Celebrating the Faithfulness of God: He Has Established Our Land”(Psalm 119:90), held the event on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Kwatire Community Durbar Grounds. Participants included pupils from basic schools as well as young apprentices.
Speaking at the gathering, the District Pastor, Pastor Michael Opoku Nsiah, said menstruation is a natural process created by God and therefore should be regarded with dignity and proper care. He stressed that anything God created is good and must be handled responsibly to promote good health and prevent diseases. Pastor Nsiah encouraged community members to show respect to girls and women during their menstrual periods and called on adolescents to practise good hygiene by keeping themselves clean and disposing of used sanitary pads appropriately. He cautioned against the reuse of sanitary materials and urged boys to desist from mocking girls who may be experiencing their menstruation.
The Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Development Focus, SUDEF, Ghana, Elder John Baidoo, whose organisation partnered the District for the event, noted that the campaign sought to highlight the importance of menstrual health and draw attention to the challenges faced by females who lack access to essential menstrual products. He explained that the initiative was also aimed at promoting dignity and safety for women and girls as they manage this natural biological function.
Chairing the event, Deaconess Grace Tabiri-Mensah advised adolescent girls to prioritise proper menstrual hygiene to avoid infections and health complications. She also encouraged them to commit their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ as they grow into adulthood.
Health professionals from the Kwatire Government Hospital served as facilitators for the campaign, taking participants through practical education on effective menstrual hygiene management. The event concluded with the distribution of sanitary pads to all adolescent girls present, an effort supported by the Women’s Ministry of the Church.
