The immediate past General Secretary and Executive Council member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has urged Christians to rise to their divine mandate as agents of transformation in a world increasingly marked by normalised moral decline.
He made the call on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Atomic, during a presentation on the Rationale for the 2026 Theme as delivered earlier by the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye.
Speaking with conviction, Apostle Kumi-Larbi reminded believers that God’s intention for His Church goes beyond gathering for worship. Instead, His desire is to raise a people who will embody Kingdom values, influence culture, and extend His rule across nations. “God is raising a generation that will hold on to His Word and walk in His power by the authority of the Holy Spirit,” he noted, urging the congregation to become active participants in God’s redemptive mission.
He reiterated the Chairman’s vision that the Church exists as God’s agency for expanding His Kingdom on earth. According to him, the early Church modelled this mandate by transforming communities, influencing institutions, and winning many to Christ through courageous proclamation and righteous living. “God’s purpose for the Church is to fill the earth with His glory and bring all things under the Lordship of Christ,” he said.
Addressing the need for intentional evangelism, Apostle Kumi-Larbi emphasised that fulfilling the Great Commission requires active engagement from every believer. “If we want to see people saved, we must open our mouths and go,” he stated. “The world needs the message we carry.”
The Ashaiman Area Head further reminded Christians that the 2026 theme, “The Church Established to Transform Society Through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit”, calls the Church to move beyond passive Christianity and demonstrate the power of the Gospel in all spheres of life. “We cannot continue to live as if nothing has changed after we leave church,” he added. “We must take the Kingdom of God into our homes, workplaces, schools, and every area of life.”
Drawing inspiration from the Puritans – who significantly influenced early Christian thought – Apostle Kumi-Larbi highlighted their commitment to justice, dignity of labour, equality, and righteous living. He challenged believers to adopt these virtues and allow them to shape their daily decisions and contributions to society.
He concluded by calling the Church to embrace its mission wholeheartedly and carry Kingdom virtues into every space they occupy in 2026 and beyond.
Present at the service were Apostle Michael Osei (Missionary Attaché, Spain); Pastor James Kusi (Personal Assistant to the Missions Director); Pastor Abubakari Issah-Gustav (Resident Minister, PIWC-Atomic); and Pastor Maldwyn Jones (Historian, Elim Churches, UK).
