Accra will play host to a historic regional dialogue on sustainability when the maiden West Africa Green Economy (WAGE) Roundtable and Awards 2025 is held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The high-profile event will see the participation of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang, who is expected to deliver the keynote address. Her presence underscores government’s commitment to advancing green growth and embedding sustainability into Ghana’s development agenda.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will also take part in the Roundtable. His involvement highlights the crucial role of legislative leadership in formulating policies that promote renewable energy, climate action, and sustainable economic transformation.
Adding further weight to the discussions will be the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, who is expected to outline Ghana’s strategy for transitioning to a low-carbon economy and accelerating renewable energy adoption.
Organized by Pent Media Centre (Ghana) and African Consolidated Analytical Limited (Nigeria), WAGER 2025 is themed “Advancing Sustainable Development through Green Growth in West Africa.” The Roundtable will gather policymakers, financiers, business leaders, academics, and civil society actors to chart a path toward environmentally responsible growth.
The event will climax with the West Africa Green Economy Awards, which will recognize individuals, institutions, and projects making outstanding contributions in renewable energy, sustainable finance, climate resilience, eco-innovation, waste management, and other green economy sectors.
With over 25 categories, the awards are expected to inspire leadership and regional collaboration in pursuit of a resource-efficient and inclusive future for West Africa.
WAGER 2025, according to organizers, is more than a conference—it is a rallying point for leaders committed to aligning West Africa’s economic ambitions with global sustainability standards, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
